As the end of the year quickly approaches, I find myself in a unique transitional period. Balancing work and school while preparing to start my practicum in the new year has been both exciting and daunting. With high tuition costs already weighing heavily, the reality of working fewer hours and earning a lower income during my practicum brings its own challenges.

The eagerness to jump into my new role as a therapist-in-training is tempered by the reality of financial strains, especially as many of us face additional expenses during the holiday season—whether it’s early Christmas shopping or travel plans. It can be easy to feel overwhelmed when thinking about how to manage our finances during this time. However, my husband and I are navigating these changes together, trusting that God will meet our needs even as we anticipate some financial adjustments.

As I look ahead to the coming months, I remind myself that patience is crucial. I believe that God has a plan for us, even if I can’t see the entire path laid out before us. Together, we must focus on budgeting wisely and being intentional about our spending, particularly as we enter this season of giving.

Proverbs 21:5 tells us, “The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.” This verse calls us to reflect on the balance between eagerness and conscientiousness. It’s natural to want to rush into the next chapter of life—whether it’s securing a new job placement or preparing for the financial strains of the holiday season. But Scripture gently reminds us that haste can lead to unnecessary struggle, while patience, careful planning, and trust in God’s timing will lead to lasting abundance.

Many people are facing similar financial challenges and transitions as they move into the new year. I encourage you to pause and reflect on your own situation. How are you trusting God with your finances this season? Are you feeling the weight of immediate decisions, or are you allowing yourself to wait patiently for His guidance?

In a world that often pushes us toward impetuous decision-making, let us remind ourselves that true abundance comes from diligence and patience. I believe that, through faith and careful planning, He will lead us to where we need to be. While this season can be filled with both joy and strain, we can find peace in knowing that our trust in God will guide us through. Let us embrace this journey together as we seek to honor Him with our finances, knowing that He has good plans for us and that His provision is always sufficient.
