Pittsford, New York
“Our vision is to honor God and serve the people He brings to us by making loving disciples of Jesus Christ,” is how Pastor Dana Goodnough described the vision of Pittsford Community Church in Pittsford, NY. “Our existing structure was limiting our ability to meet the growing needs. In our first building, we built to allow for a doubling of our congregation’s size and God honored (and surpassed) that vision. Our new expansion was designed to allow us to double again, by God’s grace.”
Pittsford’s building expansion confirmed the importance of teamwork, unity and prayer. In fact, a focal point in the building expansion was the addition of a prayer room – a place reserved only for prayer. This room is located exactly at the center of the building, tying the existing structure and expansion together. “It reminds us that prayer must be at the center of our ministry,” Dana says.
The completion of the expansion has helped bring a renewed vigor to many PCC ministries. Pastor Dana spoke of a particular instance that touched his heart. “After opening our newly expanded building, one of our teens invited a friend to come to youth group meetings. This friend invited her mother, who acknowledged that she knew almost nothing about the Bible. She said she had never heard of John the Baptist before coming to PCC. Now, this woman’s husband attends regularly as well. They are hungry for God’s word and experiencing God’s love through the PCC family.
“We certainly thank the CEIF investor for making it possible for churches like Pittsford Community Church to have access to the financial help needed for ministry,” Dana commented. “[Church Investors Fund] provides a wonderful link between investor and ministries as we join hands as faithful stewards. We are also blessed in knowing that the interest we pay helps fund other church projects, not enrich a bank.”
